S&S02 15mm Stone-walled / slate-roofed fisherman's dormer bungalow.
Based on a building seen on Scotland's west coast.
This model represents a typical stone built dormer-bungalow of a style commonly seen throughout coastal Western Scotland dating back through a couple of centuries, and also witnessed in former British colonies, dating from both the Age of Exploration and the "Height of Empire" period.
For Jacobite & 20th Century scenarios, it makes an excellent general purpose town or rural house. For Age of Exploration / Pirate scenarios, use it for wealthier citizens such as merchants or clergy. For British Colonial theatres add an all-round veranda to use it as a farm bungalow, or as it is for a harbour-side cottage.
It has been designed to remain reasonably generic so that it can be used for a wide range of periods and theatres

The model has been designed for modellers to use their imagination, and modify to create variety.
Example projects could be -
* Provide the model with a walled base and "garden".
* Build up a foundation platform including steps to a veranda with a full width porch (Australian & South Africa Colony style).
* Porches / Porticoes to the front and rear doors.
and many other personalised modifications that would allow more than one of these to appear different to each other, creating variety on the table top.
Painting the model in a grey "stone" finish makes it suitable for mountainous areas and NW Europe (e.g. Scotland).
Painting it in sandy "adobe" finish converts it to sandstone for lowland areas.
This photo shows the unbased style of the unpainted model supplied. Xyston 18mm (1:100) hoplite used for scale (not included). |
