S&S03 15mm Pair of Stone-walled / slate-roofed shepherds cottages.
Based on buildings seen in Western Scotland.
These models represent a pair of typical stone built land-workers' cottages commonly seen throughout the Scottish highlands dating back a couple of centuries, and also seen in British colonies, both during the Age of Exploration and during the "Height of Empire" period.
* For Jacobite, AWI, & Quebec scenarios, they makes excellent general purpose rural cottages.
* For Age of Exploration / Pirate scenarios, use them for fisherman's cottages or harbourside store sheds.
* For British Colonial theatres, use as a farm stores or cottages, or to fill gaps in the urban sprawl.
* For 20th Century, e.g. Flames of War, use in rural settings or Eastern Front urban fringes.

These models have been designed for modellers to use their imagination, and modify to create variety.
Example projects could be -
* Provide them with walled bases and "gardens".
* Add lean-to shelters for animals and storage.
* Porches / Porticoes to the front and rear doors.
and many other personalised modifications that would allow more than one of these to appear different to each other, creating variety on the table top.
Painting the model in a grey "stone" finish makes it suitable for mountainous areas and NW Europe (e.g. Scotland).
Painting it in sandy "adobe" finish converts it to sandstone for lowland areas.
This photo shows the unbased style of the unpainted model supplied. Xyston 18mm (1:100) hoplite used for scale (not included). |
