S&S17 15mm Stone-walled / slate-roofed Farriers Cottage & Forge.

Designed as a generic "work from home" village forge.

This model represents a generic, part-timbered, slate-roofed "Farriers Cottage & Smithy" with chimney rising from the forge. It has windows on all sides and doors to the front and side. The smithy floor is paved with cobbles, with a plank-walled store shed to the rear. Windows can be painted glazed or unglazed.

  * For Jacobite & 20th Century scenarios, it makes an excellent general purpose rural house.
  * For Age of Exploration / Pirate scenarios, and British Colonial theatres, use it for town or village smithy.
  * It will also fit well with AWI & Wolfe in Quebec, plus 20th Century Eastern Front, and more modern central Asian theatres.
  * For British Colonial theatres, use it with a farm bungalow, or harbour-side cottage.

It has been designed to remain reasonably generic so that it can be used for a wide range of periods and theatres. The doors & windows have frames.

The model has been designed for modellers to use their imagination, and modify to create variety.

Example projects could be -
  * Provide the model with a walled base and "garden".
  * Add a lean-to hay-store, or fix cart-wheels to the walls.
  * Add water-troughs and mounting steps to the outside of the smithy's walls.
  * Add a matching barn or animal shed (see our Flat Roof Block / Stone series for ready made animal sheds).

and many other personalised modifications that would allow more than one of these to appear different to each other, creating variety on the table top.

Painting the model in a grey "stone" finish makes it suitable for mountainous areas and NW Europe (e.g. Scotland).
Painting it in sandy "adobe" finish converts it to sandstone for lowland areas.
