For some strange reason, the most useful models in this scale group, for a wargamer, tend to be made at the smaller 1:700 scale. Unfortunately, most of the wargaming rules are written for 1:600 scale, and manufacturers of wargames models tend to release ranges to fit the rules’ scale.
This can make it tricky to fit some of the excellent and useful offerings from the plastic kit makers onto the table – not because of their physical size, but because they are mismatched for the wargames products scale.
However, there are a number of oplastic kit makers who do produce in the desired scale, and particularly for age of sail and the first half of the 20th Century, there are some great options to be acquired.
